The Emergency
Department at Valley Baptist Medical Center- Harlingen is an
award winning facility providing state of the art treatment for
medical, trauma, cardiac and stroke care.
We are the lead level III trauma department for the Rio Grande
Valley treating around 42,000 patients per year. The Emergency
Department is divided into three treatment areas:
Acute, Urgent and Fast Track with 60 hours of physician
coverage. Acute Myocardial Infarctions are taken directly to the
cath lab with the average time of 43 minutes. Trauma codes are
seen by the Trauma Surgeon and team within 30 minutes, and acute
Strokes are treated with TPA if they are candidates. We are also
a teaching facility with both Family Practice and Internal
Medicine Residents. |
